contrasting monologue 2 From An Inspector Calls 1945 An Inspector Calls is a morality play which follows the Birling family who's members having a family dinner when a police inspector calls upon the house as he is investigating the suicide of a working class girl who used to work in the family-owned factory. Sheila's monologue is her confession of jealousy as she tells the inspector that she got the girl, Eva Smith, fired from the dress shop Sheila visited purely because Eva suited a dress more that she did.
